Roaming While Cruising

October 29th, 2007 By: atomicgirl

There is this interesting piece of news from the World Wide Web which could bring tons of smiles to those who love setting sail on a cruise ship or ferry boat anywhere in the world. And this news is going to bring joy to this cruiser who also loves communicating frequently with his or her friends and loved ones.

You see, one of our country’s top mobile service companies is offering something new and something different. Smart Communications Inc. is the company and it has already gone through the rigid process of planning with a couple international telecoms companies.

For those who love riding on cruise ships and ferry boats anywhere in the world, Smart can give you connectivity and access to mobile roaming. Now this is going to be something really different for it can be quite hard to find a good mobile phone signal especially if you’re in some exotic place in the middle of the ocean.

The new service is known as Coastline Roaming and anyone who has a postpaid or a prepaid Smart account can do the usual stuff they do with their mobile phones - send and receive text messages as well as take and make calls. And one of the best things here is that you would not have to change mobile phone numbers just to take advantage of this service.

At present, Smart is the very first telecom company from the Philippines to offer such a service. Coastline Roaming has come into being with Smart’s cooperation with companies AT&T (United States), Telecom Italia (Italy), Manx Maritime (Isle of Man), and Maritime Communications Partner (Norway).
