Goodbye Friendster, Hello Facebook
A couple of years back, people were saying, Add me on Friendster. But now, the situation has become more of Are you on Facebook?
According to Sophos, an antivirus firm, they had done a random online survey which was targeted towards Facebook users. The results showed that one out of seven people disclosed that they indeed were using Facebook while at the office. In fact, these people also disclosed that they were logged in onto the site permanently throughout the work day.
Statistics have it that at present, there are more than 72,000 Facebook users who are in the Philippines network. So come to think of it, that number is really quite huge. And it would not be surprising if the numbers go high up as each day passes.
Graham Cluley is the senior technology consultant at Sophos and on the results of their study, he says, The results show that more than one fifth of these Facebook users are actually Facebook abusers. They’re seriously struggling to tear themselves away from the website when they should be concentrating on their jobs. He also adds, The problem is that a 20-percent addiction rate equates to an awful lot of loafing, while there’s also the likelihood that the abusers could ruin it for the other rule-abiding users.
As a Facebook user myself, I can say that I am pretty guilty of being a Facebook addict. This is because Facebook has got tons of applications that can keep you busy all throughout the day.
