Twitter, you ask?

Yes, Twitter. It is not some sort of web site wherein you get to look at profiles of birds or whatever thing that twitters. It is a really wonderful web site which could really get you hooked. Well, that is, if you like that it offers.

Twitter is actually a free service which offers micro-blogging as well as social networking. It has become quite a big hit for bloggers in the Philippines for the past couple of months and it has also been making waves among Internet users in the international scene.

This web site allows you to send updates which are often called as “twits” or “tweets” by Twitter users. Interestingly, unlike blogs, Twitter only allows its users to send in tweets that are 140 characters long at most. You go above that number, and you would not be able to send your tweet.

Twitter has got people hooked for its users could send in tweets any time. Plus, users would not have to have a computer to send an update. See, Twitter’s creators have set up a way so much so that users can also send in their updates via SMS, email, or even through IM.

Users on Twitter can choose which people to “follow” or subscribe to. When a user opens his account, he would be able to see all updates sent in by the people that he followed. A user could also send private messages to other users just in case he would not want to let others see what he wants to tell the other user.
